Ontogeny of respiration and feeding structures of skull in Persian sturgeon, Acipenser persicus (Bordin, 1897)

چکیده مقاله:
In the present study, the process of the skull development and calcification in Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) was studied. Development of cartilage started after hatching around the head and notochord (10.6 mm, total length, TL) and the first calcification process occurred in dermopalatine and dentary bone jaw coincident with mixing feeding. The appearance of dermal skeletal on the body divided into three stages: (a) the yolk-sac (comprised of hatching to the late larval stage (12 DPH, 16 mm TL) in which no calcified structures became visible and the cartilaginous elements of skull with feeding and breathing roles have appeared. (b) the larval stage (between 16 and 20.25 mm, 23 DPH) in which, the first calcification process related to feeding and breathing occurred and weak mineralized dermal bones such as subopercle and supracleithrum developed; and (c) the metamorphosis stage between 27.25 and 83.3 mm TL) during which the formation of mineralized dermal bones occurred between 32 and 50 days post-hatching, and teeth were disappeared on dentary and dermopalatine bones. The results of this study could be useful for decreasing the larval mortality and improving the stock conservation programme of Persian sturgeon.

Assessment in Vitro Oocyte Maturation and Blood-Circulating Steroid Hormones in Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser Persicus) Spawning
The in vitro effect of 17α, 20β-Dihydroxyprogesterone on the maturation of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) oocytes for 7, 10, 12, 24 and 30th hours of incubation were investigated. Blood serum, testosterone (T), progesterone (P4) and 17-β estradiol concentrations were measured using enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA). The oocytes were incubated in SIS, RM2, L-15 and PSACF media in...
متن کاملMorphological and Histological Study of Kidney in Juvenile Great Sturgeon (Huso huso) and Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus)
Sturgeons are ancient and commercial fishes which posses’ primitive characteristics and due to their great inflections are able to live in both freshwater and marine environments. So their kidney has great ability for adaptation process. In order to find the structure and distribution of kidney nephrons in juvenile Huso huso and Acipensr persicus, sampling of head, body and caudal parts of kidn...
متن کاملInterrelationships among Egg, Larvae and Maternal Characteristics in Persian Sturgeon Acipenser persicus
This study was aimed to observe the correlations among egg, larvae and maternal characteristics of Persian sturgeon. A total of 41 females were used and the variables including fertilization rate, incubation survival rate, larvae survival rate during yolk sac absorption (before feeding), and larvae survival rate after first feeding were determined. As a result, fertilization rate was positively...
متن کاملDetermination of optimum feeding rate expressed as percent of body weight in Persian sturgeon, Acipenser persicus
The present study was conducted to determine the best feeding rates expressed as percent of body weight in Persian sturgeon fingerlings at different body weights. Eighteen fiberglass tanks each holding 30 fingerlings with an average initial body weight of 19.45 ± 0.5 g were used in this experiment. Six different feeding trials (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 percent of body weight) were employed an...

Bone gla protein and matrix gla protein are of common origin with evolutionary relation and have similar structural features and are functional in the formation of skeletal structures The present study have been evaluated the genes encoding vitamin k-dependant proteins (VKDPs) expression at hatching time (0), 1, 3, 6, 10, 12,14, 20, 30 and 50 in skeletal Persian sturgeon sturgeon (Acipenser per...
